Event Questions

Is there a dress code? What should I wear?
This is not a black tie event, but there are chandeliers. We recommend dressing up a little bit (think somewhere between business casual and semi-formal), mostly because we think it's fun, but being comfortable and feeling good should be your priority. Whatever you wear, we're sure you'll look great!
Will there be dinner?
Yes! When you RSVP you will be asked to select one of three main course options for our seated dinner. Please let us know in your RSVP if you have any allergies, sensitivities, or other food requirements that don't work with those options and we will do our very best to make sure you can share a meal with us.
Will there be alcohol at the event?
Yes. After the ceremony there will be a cocktail hour and during the reception there will be an open bar. Please stay safe and plan ahead for a cab or rideshare if you plan to drink.
Will there be photos taken during the event?
We are delighted to have a talented photographer with us all day. The only formally posed photography will be of the wedding party, but we may see you in candid shots. If you would prefer not to be photogaphed, please let us know and we are happy to help you avoid the cameras through creative seating.
During the reception, our kids will also be walking around with cameras, looking for great shots and capturing video of well-wishes. They will be asking for your permission during this time, so if you don't want to be photographed or videotaped, just let them know!
Can I take pictures?
Absolutely! We just ask that you make sure that every person who is visible (even in the background) in the picture has given you their consent. If you're having trouble getting an angle without other people in it, we recommend checking out other rooms inside the University Club-they are all equally lovely, but some may be less crowded.
Do you have a wedding hashtag?
No. We'd love for you to share any wedding pictures you take with us though-please feel free to text or email us copies!
Will there be dancing?
Everything is a dance if you're brave enough. There will also be a DJ after dinner.
Where are you registered?
We're not! While we love how thoughtful all of our friends and family are, we are asking that no one purchase any wedding gifts. Please see our Information page for more details about our gift policy and places you can send charitable donations to spread the love on our big day!

Venue Questions

Where exactly is the venue?
The University Club of Portland is located at 1225 SW 6th Ave, Portland, OR 97204 on the corner of SW 6th and SW Jefferson in downtown Portland.
Will the event be indoor or outdoor?
February in the Pacific Northwest is an unpredictable time of year. In order to keep us all nice and cozy and safe from the rain all of our activities will take place indoors.
Is the venue accessible?
Yes! There are a lot of stairs, but if you need accommodations (or just aren't looking to increase your step count) there is a ramp at the back entrance, an elevator which can be taken to any floor, and bathrooms with accessible stalls.
Is there on-site parking?
Unfortunately no. Fortunately, downtown Portland has many parking garages nearby (including one on 5th and Jefferson). If you are booking a room in our courtesy block at The Porter Portland, they do have private parking available there as well.

RSVPS

When can I RSVP?
Because some of our guests will be traveling internationally, we have sent our Save the Dates a bit early to help everyone with planning. RSVPs will open as soon as you receive your official invitation this autumn, which will include everyone in your party by name as well as the finalized meal options.
How do I RSVP?
You can RSVP right here on the website!
When is the RSVP deadline?
Please RSVP By January 1, 2024. You can RSVPĀ  here on the website anytime after you receive an invitation.
Can I bring a plus one?
Due to venue limits, we ask that you only bring the number of people listed on your invitation. If you have a named guest or family member but would like to bring someone else, please reach out to us!
Are children welcome?
We love our children and yours! Unfortunately, the venue can only fit so many humans of any age. We have invited everyone we could, including young humans, by name whenever possible. If you would like to exchange a named guest for a different named guest of any age 4 and over, please just let us know!

Travel

Where is a good place to stay nearby the venue?
We have reserved a courtesy block for all of our out of town guests at The Porter Portland, just a few blocks away from The University Club in downtown Portland. Our block rate is $153.79 (roughly CAD $220) per night as long as you book by February 9th through our website here!
Where is the nearest airport?
Portland International Airport (PDX) is located approximately twelve miles (a 20 minute drive) from The University Club of Portland. The drive can be longer in traffic-sometimes over an hour-so it's best to plan ahead.
How can I get around Portland?
We have all of the standard options (Lyft, Uber, ZipCar, car rentals, etc), but Portland, Oregon also has some of the best public transportation in the country! Check out the TriMet website to plan trips from the airport to the hotel or around town while you're sightseeing!
What are some good things to do while I am in town?
Portland is a wonderful place, and we hope you will feel welcome! The kids have created lists of their favorite things to do and see while you're in town over on our Wedding Party page, if you're interested. We hope you enjoy your visit!
